Summer Fun Can Help Older Hockey Players

Number One for me is HAVE FUN: Do things you can’t do when it’s cold outside

Summer goes by too fast. Make sure you get outside with family and friends to enjoy the weather.

Tip: Don’t just talk about what you’re going to do this summer. Make plans and put them on a calendar or they may never happen.

If you’re still working, your weekends are precious.
There are only 9 weekends left this summer before Labor Day weekend.

Vacation out of town or do a Staycation.

Do outdoor activities: Golf, tennis, roller hockey or rollerblading, bicycle riding, going to the beach, camping or whatever you like to do.

Yes, “The Dog Days of Summer” can be tough to handle. Before we know it, we’ll be complaining about the cold weather.

Should you play hockey this summer?
Rest some nagging injuries.

If you’ve been playing all year, maybe take a few weeks off the ice.

Try to do things this summer so you are physically and mentally ready for fall hockey.

Summer has Big Hockey Sales

Custom Skates

Even if you’re not interested in spending $1,000 for custom skates, the 3D fit scanning can tell you which model of CCM or Bauer skate is best for your feet.

End of Summer Story

An old co-worker used to brag every Monday about the home projects he did that weekend.
Another co-worker said: “My Time is more valuable than money”.

Listener Email

Received an Email from Wes (New Jersey) – Roller Hockey
His teenage daughter listened to my last podcast and thought it was fantastic. Thank You!
During Wes’ games she is great at giving her dad constructive criticism.

She’s also a Huge NY Rangers fan.
They’ve won 4 Stanley Cups. The last one in the 1993-1994 season.
My favorite Rangers players are from before she was born:
Eddie Giacomin (goalie)
Brad Park (defenseman)
Mark Messier (center)

Safety Tip

Not hockey related: Wear a hat when outside. Not just in the summer; winter sun can burn you, especially if you’re near snow (reflected rays).

Health Update

My right ankle is feeling pretty good. My right knee is still sore.
I’ve had pneumonia, so I haven’t played hockey. I’m still not feeling 100%, but I plan on going to Drop-In Hockey this Friday.

I love hearing your stories.
Please email me at Jim@AgelessHockey.com
NOTE: I’ll reply to all emails.

I value your time and appreciate all of you that have subscribed to my podcast.
Thanks for listening!

Have fun playing the greatest game on earth!
